How to Conquer Fortress Solitaire with Confidence

Ready to take on Fortress Solitaire? This solo card game uses a standard deck of 52 and puts everything out in the open from the start. You deal ten tableau piles face-up: two piles of six cards on the far left and right, and eight piles of five cards in between, arranged in two wings of five piles each with space in the middle for foundations. Your aim is to build four foundation piles, one per suit, from Ace up to King.

Here’s how it plays: only the top card of each tableau pile can move. You can shift it to a foundation if it’s next in line, or stack it on another tableau card either up or down by suit, like a 7 of Clubs on a 6 or 8 of Clubs. Move an Ace to the center as soon as it’s free to start a foundation, and keep building from there. If a pile empties, toss any card in there to keep the game flowing.
