How to Play Pyramid Solitaire and Topple the Deck
Ready to climb into Pyramid Solitaire? This solo card game uses a standard deck of 52 and builds a unique challenge right from the start. You deal 28 cards face-up into a pyramid shape: one card at the top, two below it, three under that, and so on, up to seven cards at the base, all overlapping so only uncovered cards are playable. The remaining 24 cards form your stock pile, flipped one at a time to a waste pile. Your aim is to dismantle the pyramid by pairing cards that add up to 13—like a King (13) solo, a Queen (12) with an Ace (1), or a 7 with a 6—until it’s all gone.
Here’s the breakdown: only fully exposed cards in the pyramid are free to pair. Match two pyramid cards that total 13, or pair a pyramid card with the top waste card if they hit that number, removing them as you go. Flip through the stock one by one, using what you can, and if you want a do-over, some versions let you reshuffle the waste once. It’s a fast, luck-tinged game with a puzzle vibe, perfect for a quick solo session. Can you knock down the pyramid and clear the table?
