How to Solve Peg Solitaire and Clear the Board
Ready to take on Peg Solitaire? This isn’t your usual card game—it’s a classic solo puzzle played with a standard deck of 52 cards, turning them into “pegs” on a grid. You start by laying out 33 cards face-down in a cross shape: a 7x7 grid where the corners are empty, and the center card is removed, leaving 32 “pegs” and one open hole. Your goal is to jump cards over each other, removing the jumped card each time, until only one card remains, ideally in the center.
Here’s how it goes: pick a card and move it over an adjacent card (up, down, left, or right) into an empty space, then take away the card you jumped over. Keep hopping cards, always landing in an open spot and removing the one you passed, shrinking the board step by step. You can’t move diagonally or slide without jumping, so every play needs a neighbor to leap over. It’s a pure logic game, perfect for a quiet brain workout, and winning takes planning and a bit of trial and error. Can you whittle it down to that lone card and call it a triumph?
